ARSHILE GORKIJ Diagnostics

About This Project

High resolution IR scanner reflectography with InGaAs sensor

Applications:
The method is used to visualize the underdrawing and discriminate non homogeneous/restoration areas. This information is fondamental for authentication and condition assessment.
Specs:
The acquired image is inherently metric and distortion-free.
Only minor mosaicking will be needed.
The device can be calibrated and can be customized to perform in best conditions depending on the paint layer composition and structure.

Digital X-Radiography portable device

Applications:
It is a fundamental method for the visual perception of the integral (surface and inner) structure of objects and it is well established as art diagnostic methods. Fondamental for authentication and condition assessment.
Specs:
A portable X-Ray source, 30-100 KeV (1KeV steps), ultra light, high-frequency, adjustable timing and a Flat Panel detector for on site use

CCD scientific camera and multispectral/hyperspectral imaging in the UV/Vis/IR range
Applications:
Multispectral/hyperspectral images can be used for mapping the surface of the painting, and identify inhomogeneous areas. Moreover, it can be used for accurate colorimetry and color image reproduction of UV fluorescence, visible and false colour NIR images.

Furthermore, they can be used to acquire the spectral signature in the extended UV/ Vis/IR range for pigment mapping.
It can also be used for its Multilayer patented method.
Specs:

The camera is characterized by high resolution, high sensitivity and low noise, is capable to acquire clear images also using interferential filters, at the higher end of the QE spectrum:1050 -1100 nm
The system is designed to be a/apochromatic, so to limit the need to image registration and facilitate calibration of the images.

Propretary sw for image registration and calibration is provided.

ED-XRF custom designed portable device

Applications:
XRF analysis is a non-invasive chemical technique, which allows, through the identification of chemical elements, to identify the pigments employed for the realization of the different paint layers. This, when coupled with proper imaging, is fundamental for any authentication and dating application and conservation assessment
Specs:
Both the X-ray tube and the detector are selected to provide the best detection capability for typical cultural heritage materials, (which is never the case with non OEM solutions, generally targeting industrial applications,) and a spot size which allow to target small areas and be selective on exactly the point investigated
